History

In just a few short years Onroak Automotive’s expansion has made it a key player in endurance racing and motor sport in general. The increased presence of its sports prototypes in the different series is proof of the confidence shown by a growing number of clients.

2017

The Ligier JS P217 and the Nissan DPi make their debut in competition and the success of the Ligier JS P3 continued across the continents.

In June, Onroak Automotive presents a new model in its range. A sports-prototype with a carbon shell, the Ligier JS P4 aims to bring new teams and drivers to endurance racing. It is placed between the CN and the LM P3

In mid-September, Onroak Automotive was chosen as the official and exclusive manufacturer of chassis that meet the 2018 FIA F3 regulations for the F3 Americas championship which will start in 2018.

At the end of September 2017, Onroak Automotive took over Tork Engineering’s activities, specialised in the design and manufacture of sports cars in complementary areas to the ones Onroak Automotive had been present in up until that point.

2016

Onroak Automotive became the first French constructor to win the Daytona 24 Hours with its Ligier JS P2. Its victories in the Sebring 12 Hours and the Petit Le Mans have made it part of motor racing history, as after Ferrari in 1998 Onroak Automotive is the only company to have won the three American Classics.

Onroak Automotive was selected by the ACO, the FIA and IMSA as one of the four constructors in LM P2 complying with the 2017 new regulations. In September of this year it took the wraps of its new sport-prototype, the Ligier JS P217, then the Nissan DPi, a variation of the same chassis dedicated to the North American market.

Onroak Automotive took over the manufacture of the Crawford F4 from Crawford Composites, the monobrand chassis of the US F4 championship, and set up their base in Denver, North Carolina.

The French constructor has also set up a base in Asia as it has installed workshops inside the Sepang circuit in Malaysia.

2015

At the beginning of 2015 Onroak Automotive, which has met with success in the CN and LM P2 categories, confirmed its will of a complete range of sports prototypes by announcing a LM P3 car. The Ligier JS P3 has been developed taking advantage of the work done on the Ligier JS P2. As soon as it was unveiled it attracted a great deal of interest on the part of teams, confirmed a few months later by its on-track performance.

The design department and the Onroak Automotive staff brought out evolution kits. Teams now have Morgan LM P2 EVO and Ligier JS 53 EVO 2 models both of which confirmed their enhanced potential in the opening races of the season.

Onroak Automotive is working on a new LM P2, which will comply with the regulations coming into force in 2017.

The Ligier JS P2 confirms its reliability and competitiveness and triumphs at the highest level with the first place in LM P2 in the FIA WEC championship, taking the FIA LMP2 Endurance Trophy.

2014

At the start of 2014 Onroak Automotive unveiled its new closed LM P2 sports prototype, the Ligier JS P2, entirely conceived and developed in house by the design department. This model showcasing Onroak Automotive’s known-how has confirmed its competiveness since its launch racking up pole positions and podiums for the various teams running the car.

The same year a new version of the CN sports prototype, the Ligier JS 53 EVO, was proposed.

2013

The Morgan LM P2 confirmed its two strong points, reliability and competiveness, and won at the topmost level scoring a double in class in the Le Mans 24 Hours and filling first and second places in the FIA LM P2 Endurance Trophy in the WEC.

At the end of the year Onroak Automotive joined forces with the Ligier make after a great human encounter between Guy Ligier and Jacques Nicolet. This combining of their passion, resources and human and technical know-how marked a turning point in the history of the constructor and gave rise to new projects.

2012

Onroak Automotive brought out the Morgan LM P2, a sports prototype derived from the Pescarolo chassis. In its first year the car raced in the American Le Mans Series, the European Le Mans Series and the FIA WEC.
