The Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of the Southern Cross was erected by Pope Benedict with the the Decree of Erection, signed by William Cardinal Levada, Prefect of the Congregation For the Doctrine of the Faith was signed on 15 June 2012. This was the third Personal Ordinariate to be erected for former Anglicans (after the United Kingdom and the United States of America / Canada).
The Ordinary is The Right Reverend Harry Entwistle, Protonotary Apostolic with the Principal Church of Saint Ninian and Saint Chad located in Perth, Western Australia. As an Ordinary, Monsignor Harry is a member of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference.
The Personal Ordinariate currently includes eleven worship communities across Australia. Eleven parishes constitute the Ordinariate and are located in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.
