Studios are capitalizing on the late summer box office drought to re-release a number of films that went largely under-appreciated during their initial theatrical runs. With low-profile flicks like Marci X and My Boss's Daughter on the release slate, they're hoping to attract audiences that might've previously overlooked some really solid films.
Paramount is set to re-release the ensemble heist flick, The Italian Job, in 1,500-2,000 locations beginning on August 29th. That'd put it up against Jeepers Creepers 2 during the busy Labor Day weekend. The Mark Wahlberg/Charlize Theron/Ed Norton starrer was originally released in late May up against Disney and Pixar's Finding Nemo. Currently playing on 118 screens, the film has picked up $96.6 million in 12 weeks.

Additionally, Miramax is re-releasing George Clooney's Confessions of a Dangerous Mind to roughly 1,000 screens after it under-performed during the crowded Oscar season. The film grossed around $16 million during its initial run.
