Heh reading people on reddit and a couple on twitter after the trade saying the Habs could flip Mason to a desperate team for even more picks. Yeaaaaaah check out that market for him. Hold out for a first!
Tomorrow is Bobby Bonilla payday Saw this too about Bruce Sutter being paid for 30 years lol https://theathletic.com/399252/2018...-for-30-years-thanks-to-a-ludicrous-contract/
I would assume Tavares would prefer a 7 year deal over an 8 year deal Mainly because an 8 year deal would mean his next contract would be a 35+ and that would be no bueno
TSN had a headline saying the Leafs and Flames were interested in Ryan, and I almost had a heart attack thinking they were talking about Bobby Ryan.
I do, and know exactly why they did it. I just found it funny, because even with the carousel of bad backups they had last year they won't even give Mason a chance despite having lots of cap space.
Niemi and Mason both suck but Niemi single-handedly killed the Habs tanking last season by playing way over his head. If you're trying to win you shouldn't prefer one over the other and if you're trying to lose you should be trying to find worse goalies than those two.
Carousel of backups? The year was split between Lindgren and Niemi who had the best save percentage of all Habs goalies. Not sure what you’re talking about.
I think Niemi is better than most backups in the league. I think Waite can fix him after what Dalass did to him
I liked Armia, but he's replaceable. I'm more concerned with how much Chevy is going to throw at Stastny. Yet another Jets legend.
apparently he chose 13 to honor mats sundin as he was like an uncle to him so in one swoop, he has successfully trolled both leafs and canadiens fans
Yeah Im sure hes going to give up that 8th year of $10M+ because he's worried about his contract when he's 36.
If it's strictly down to money I think the Leafs are probably out. Don't think they'd go to 12 million with Matthews looming. Quick, get your Photoshop warmed up.
I really don't know how to feel about this. We have both Matthews and Marner to worry about, not just one player. So you're probably right. But on the other hand, I wish they'd do what they could to at least get him for one season or somehow make it work longer term, because he'd make this one hell of a forward unit. I'm worried about overspending and hurting the team, but want him at the same time because it'd be fun to watch and would hopefully lead to a Cup.
The Islanders can still offer the most money until tomorrow, so it's clearly not just coming down to that.
Could it be that the Islanders are offering 8x11-11.5 and SJ is offering 7x12? The decision being one more year of term vs 1 extra million salary.
Could the wait be that Tavares is taking a really long dump and can't talk to anyone right now? #Tavareswatch
Typical Kypreos. It would have to be the Islanders signing Tavares for 8 years and then trading him for another team to get him an 8 year contract. Trading rights won't get it done. A player hast to be on a team at the last trade deadline for the team to be able to give them eight years.
Everyone will be bracing themselves for Rinaldo to do something dirty and that’ll be the perfect diversion for Subban to sucker punch more superstars. Poile really is a genius.
