What I'm liking so far is that Nero will get different arms that will give him different powers, one of which allows to stop time around a demon. I think it's the kind of depth that Nero needs to be a super cool character alongside Dante & V(ergil). Also I strongly think that the music style is going to shift between the characters. What we heard is Nero's music style, and Dante is probably going to go back to a more classic style. The music kick-off during Dante's reveal was probably a preview of what's to come musically. Honestly I'm liking what I'm seeing more and more. I certainly did not want to come back to the DMC3 style, I'm not into that noise. The RE Engine looks gorgeous too.
I don't see the problem and the people who would talk gameplay differences don't seem to be showing up right now, it's all surface level fans drive-bying to say they don't like thing instead of discussing things.
I'll give you Ellie but the cast of Uncharted looks quite different than they did. Like it's the same designs but there are literal changes in face structure:
I know there was a just rev and max rev mechanic, but that wasn't fun. I really hated having to press the trigger with every attack simultaneously, it wasn't a challenging mechanic, it was just unfun.
Your fucking dream came true after ten long years, folks. Don't write it off as a nightmare just because it's not as lucid as you expected, yet.
Someone told me that was the girl in the trailer but the girl’s tattoos do not match the person’s tattoo on the cover.
Okay, so on re-watching this trailer I like it waaaaaaay better than the first time. I think the first way through I was still kind of thinking of it as DmC2 so it gave me a really terrible first impression, but on second viewing though the style is different and in ways more like DmC, it's not like DmC in the ways that I disliked about DmC, so I don't really have any reason to complain. The theme was also hype as hell. 100% hyped for this now.
I don't know how to feel about the reveal. I mean, I'm hyped that we're actually getting another DMC, that's amazing! But...Nero does look a lot like Donte, Dante's face is looking iffy and the aesthetic is way less gothic than usual DMC fare. On the other hand, you've got Nero's (now) robot arm which opens the gameplay possibilities up inmensely plus really nice graphics which mean that Capcom is not half-assing this. Anyways, there's so much you can take away from just one trailer, so I need to see more of the game to make up my mind, but after seeing the trailer many times, my confidence is slowly rising. Plus, Itsuno says the game's shaping up great, how could I doubt him!
I just keep watching it and shaking my head over how sick this looks. I can't believe we're getting DMCV. (Kinda funny that Nero has a bionic arm like Venom Snake now, too. V had come to, indeed)
Another thing but I cannot understate how happy I am that my boy Nero is in and still in the centerstage of DMC5. He has a lot of potential going for himself and fleshing him out as the new generation of demon hunters rather than the hero turned sidekick of DMC4 is going to make him legendary. Nero is the oomph the franchise needs, and I'm sure he will deliver.
Yeah, this doesn't have the oversaturated and edgy look DmC had. DMC4 had a similar look for its environments, and the characters are less stylized thanks to the better hardware for better or worse.
Nah, man. I just find it to be really good character modeling. This is the first time seeing DMC characters with that level of visual fidelity. So the difference is more apparent, I suppose.
I care very little about Nero I care immensely about him bringing Exceed and Devil Bringer gameplay to the table, however.
This is what I posted in the other DMC 5 thread The changes to Nero are primarily a result of moving away from stylized and moving towards a more realistic graphics style on better hardware. The bigger change is the new haircut. If he had the hair from DMC4, he would look like this type of change going from 4 to 5.
SPOILERS A long time ago a demon liutenant from hell named Sparda rebelled and defeated the demon lord Mundus before he could overtake our world, sealing him away by using most of his power and becoming human-ish in the process. He fell in love with a human woman and had two half-demon twins, Dante and Vergil, before he died. Mundus targeted Sparda's family and his wife was killed, the twins separated. When they were young adults they met again as enemies when Vergil opened the hellgate so he could steal his father's power (sealed in a sword) for himself. In the end Dante defeated him and took the sword while Vergil went to hell willingly and was corrupted by Mundus, who turned him into Nelo Angelo. After some time Trish, a demonic clone of his mother appeared in Dante's office and told him Mundus was about to get resurrected. Dante went to an island overtaken by Mundus' demons and after some drama with Trish and Nelo Angelo (who died) he unlocked Sparda's power from the aforementioned sword and sealed Mundus again. Years later, in some island where a cult revered Sparda, an orphan named Nero developed a serious case of demon-arm-itis just before Dante appeared and started killing a bunch of cultists which were actually using pieces of Vergil to turn themselves into demons. After some more drama with Nero' girlfriend Kyrie, Sparda's and Vergil's swords, Dante and Nero teamed up and destroyed a giant statuesque demon finishing the cult for good and saving the day. At some point Dante got a coin and a motorbike and saved the world again from some rich asshole, then ended up going to hell (sorry, DMC2 is super fuzzy in my mind). Cue DMC5.
I'm aware of that part of the mechanic, I'm just not a fan of it. It's one of the main reasons I enjoyed playing Dante more than Nero in DMC4. Revving only provided fake-depth because Nero's moveset was significantly more limited than Dante's.
Artstyle is uninteresting, but everything else is great (music is growing on me too) Really disliking the nero redesign because he looks too close to DmC's donte. I'm shocked that made it out of the design process. This isn't exactly the reveal I wanted after 10 years.... but that was my own fault for being overhyped.
If people can comeback to KOF14 after its initial showing than this game will have no problem being an attention grabber even for the grouchy people when more stuff is revealed.
I'm good with it on the Nero front. Like his look and the gameplay. Need to see more of Dante and I hope Vergil is the third playable character. Just physically corrupted or something.
It might depend on whether or not Nico is using stuff from the Demon World to make Nero's arms. He'll apparently have wings if we go by the V at the end of the trailer.
You have a point, even though Dante is kind of a different example because he did have a personality in DMC1. But I think hoping for Lucia in any future DMC game is setting oneself up for disappointment; Capcom seems to want to forget about DMC2 entirely, and frankly, who can blame them?
Capcom Press Release / Fact sheet (sorry if already posted) - but I guess the third character is new and not virgil. I see I'm not the only one who was taken aback by Nero's looks. As I watched the trailer, I honestly thought that was yet another different protagonist. I don't dislike how he looks, though.
some of the takes in here are outrageous. Too Western? wtf trailer did you watch? Meth Head? People fucking age dawg... Holy fucking hell I forget every year how much I hate after conference hot takes....geez
