i donno if your example is sarcasm or not, but that's exactly what happened when in the "america wants to regulate backpacks and entrances before guns" thread. the #notallamericans defense force came out quick
Holy shit, I checked that thread out and you were't kidding. No I was not being sarcastic either. Just what I noticed when people start making statements about Americans in threads.
By my count, I think a quarter of the mod team is Asian. Considering the content of some of these threads, I don't know what that is worth. That said, I miss Bish
Ehh, I bet the majority of those are primarily involved in the gaming side, which is why OT is the way it is.

It’s always wild to read white posters talking about how strange it is having people out of their teens living with their parents. Huge cultural divide. Like here the Chinese parents I know are like “why do you want to move out, what a waste of money you should be saving” to their 26 year old kids working full time who can absolutely afford to move out. Plus the entire idea of charging your (reasonable, so not like the guy who is having his parents evict him) kid rent is so foreign to me.
Asian parents wouldn't have let him be a leech in the first place. This guy isn't just someone living at home to save money for the future and take care of his parents.
Yeah, as long as my kids are putting in an honest effort, they can stay with me as long as they like. Why make them waste 30% of their money on rent? That shit is just dumb.
I used to pay my parents rent money, but it's now morphed into money to help them cover their own personal expenses while I pay for everything else in the house. It's even gotten to the point where they're complaining that I'm spending way too much money on them.
Most of my friends (who are also Asian) lived with their parents until they got married. Never even really lived with their spouses before it.
moving out has been by far the best thing for my relationship with me and my parents, though they would have let me squat if i really wanted. I was still paying them rent, though they thought of it more as enforced savings on my part cos they sure as fuck didn't need it. (Nevermind I was saving on top of that but still)
Cool Google Doodle today honoring influential first-generation Chinese cinematographer James Wong Howe https://artsandculture.google.com/theme/DALS5WZQPEMDKg
Okay someone must know Asian Andy. I know we're all basically connected by two degrees. When you figure it out please tell him to stop being such a national goddamn disgrace to the rest of us. Shithead.
Apparently he lives in Los Angeles. I'm now personally offended as a SoCal Asian. In all seriousness what the fuck he's such a fucking moron. The only thing worse than being a racist Asian is a racist Asian who is doing it to try and be accepted by white people. Pathetic.
lol yeah there's something like another level down of nauseating being racist not because asians are racists, but being racists cos white ppl are racist can't even own your own bigotry smh
Why is it that at every white racist gathering, there’s a token Asian? Seriously they make us all look bad.
Some of us took "you are what you eat" a little too literally. TBH I feel like this is just one of those common path Asian self hate takes. I know a couple clowns like this and it's never pretty.
Yeah dude doing it... smh. Minorities will always be the fall guys. Also he's fucking it up for the rest of us. -___-
OHHHHH THIS GUY. I totally forgot about him lol. I came across his channel one day and was just completely turned off by his content. Also I don't usually make fun of how people look but I feel justified in this case man this guy is such an ugly little shit lmao.
Did any one else check out that Chinese Exclusion Act documentary on PBS last night? Shit was crazy. Learned a lot.
Friends brought me two small bottles of Suntory whiskey because I cat-sat for them for two weeks while they were there. Tastes good, man.
5 years ago was the time to do it. Prices jumped by close to 300%. Yamazaki used to go for $50 a bottle...lolz
I think my brother-in-law's sister's husband has a bottle of Yamazaki as a gift when they bought their own house recently. I should try and hang out with him one of these weekends, lol.
So much this. Yamazaki 12 used to be a good deal at $40-50, but now it goes for $70-100, and is no longer worth its asking price. You can get great bottles for $100. Their 18 used to be about $90-110, I don't even know what it goes for now. Also notice the glut of named bottles instead of ages/numbers; they basically don't even have the aged variants anymore, because demand is so high that they're just selling whatever they can bottle and ship out. The names are given because the total average age would be sad and pathetic to put on a label. Overall, the final verdict for Japanese whiskey, in my personal opinion, is that it's highly polished, but ultimately kind of bland and boring. Except for Hibiki 21, I wish I stocked a cellar full before the price explosion. Their 12 is also good if you can find it; skip 17, it's better to move up to 21 or down to 12.
I know nothing about Japanese whiskeys outside of the Hibiki's that my friends and I drink, but I do love me some Kavalan Sherry Cask from Taiwan
Forgot to take pictures of most of it, but I had omakase with Pet a few weeks ago. It was a great meal. The shrimp antenna were twitchy!
Septimus Prime im jealous ... geez would love to try french laundry one day Potater and Pet also also also jealous * ___ * Mod team handed out some red banners in the eel thread, if I'm not misremembering. Also I hate that practice of eating something that's still alive, but I did tell the moderation team that it's doubleplusnotgood to generalize the entire country for such practices. Balancing act. Is not very easy. But ugh, poor eels. Humans are horrible :( (I dont have to say SOME humans, do I?).... Again, if there's any awful posts that offends you, report them. Like you all know, there'a a fair bit of moderators who are Asians, different types, far south, south east, far east, etc. Loads.
I recall reporting a couple posts, neither ended up amounting to anything but I got a reply for one of them at least lol. Didn't have the energy to dispute it at the time.
So, having just moved from LA to the Bay Area, I've noticed that there seems to be a slight cultural difference in terms of perception of Asians. Here, it feels more integrated, whereas in SoCal, there's more a sense of "other," despite it being miniscule. On the other hand, it feels a lot more corporate here. Whereas down there, people would ask, "What do you do?" Here, it's, "Where do you work?" Like, your identity is tied to whichever megacorp employs you. Also, like every other car is a Tesla here.
My long term goal is to move to LA. I’m tired of feeling like an “other”. Of course being in the US it’s always gonna be like that but I know in Cali it would be more bearable.
i want a tesla, but it's so expensive :( im considering other electric cars atm, needs a change soon. probably this year or next. do any of you drives a good electric car? any recs? also, bay area sounds so nouveau-rich-tech hope the move's been smooth and you and your family is settling in well, septie :>
