If you really care about cosmetics save your credits. If you are more concerned with Star Cards, buy crates now but save your crafting parts.

Apparently 40 parts = 1 skill point, meaning that you'll be able to upgrade a card to purple with 120 crafting parts. So i'm probably getting a lot of crates and saving the crafting points.

This is great, I have 1k+ crafting parts as I had no idea how to spend them. My heart said "Upgrade your heroes, dude!" but my brain was all "Don't be dumb, guy!" and I just froze. Looks like I am super duper smart after all! Hooray!

Also sat on over 700 Crystals. I am rich. RICH!

Hmmm, if this update delivers maybe I’ll grab it since the PS store has it on sale for $24 until the 27th

Outside of the wonky progression and some ongoing balance issues, it's a fantastic game. Jump in, dude!

Good, this game will finally have the progression system it should have had from launch.

Save your crafting parts. Right now it takes 480 just to go from Blue to Purple, after the update it will only take 120 to go from Grey (level 1) all the way to Purple via conversion to the new Skill Points. 40 parts = 1 Skill Point.

  10. Seriously just get it. The gameplay is still pretty fantastic with the exception of some annoying balance issues and is well worth the entry price at $24. This progression system update shouldnt stop you either, you can just earn the credits and crafting parts and just sit on them until the update.

I have about 140k credits right now. I’m probably going to save 100k for cosmetics and spend the rest on crates to grab those crafting parts while they’re available. The parts to skill points conversion is a hell of a deal.

My thoughts exactly. The game after the March progression update and April cosmetics update will be the game we should have gotten at launch. Hopefully with this finally ironed out, we’ll see a bigger effort toward balance and new content.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see some sort of re-launch marketing push either.

Just think how the game would be right now if it wasn't kneecapped out of the gate by EA's greed and stupidity :(

Is it me or does this royally fuck people like me who invested into epics, hit max rank and completed most milestones?

Seems kinda ridiculous that I just upgraded Luke and Yoda to full epics about a week ago.

But you get to keep those epics. Not sure how this royally fucks you at all.

  19. You get to keep all your progress...so I dont see how this fucks you at all. Going forward though, it sounds like you wont be able to just dump crafting parts on a character to upgrade them

Its a good thing I was always super indecisive about which card to turn from blue to purple, cause right now I have a decent amount of crafting parts saved up because of that. And I imagine the time to gain a skill point through normal game play will be very friendly too, since the conversion from crafting parts to skill points is so much friendlier.

I hope that's not all the update brings and some serious balance and quality of life changes come with it too, cause the new progression system benefits the new players starting out a lot more.

This is the heads up. You don't stop getting crafting parts until the patch next week.

  24. Ehhh I mean, I get it but they announced that the progression system was going to be totally reworked a while ago. Either you could just not play and wait for it before progressing or keep enjoying the game and just hope that the overhaul doesnt bone your progress.

All things considered I think this is one of the less painful options.

So is anyone actually having fun playing this? Thinking of picking up since it's on sale.

  26. Yes, the base gameplay is very enjoyable. The negativity here is more associated with the lack of communication and content updates from the devs.

  27. Well I guess im still waiting to get actual details on cosmetics....
Arriving 5 months after they were discussed(while already hidden in the game)

I take it wouldn't be any different from the previous game once they arrive.

(eg. Rebels get different races, Troops get different color swaps, everyone can change sexes, etc)

  29. Hopefully since the hidden features were leaked they put more work in though because the classes were gender specific,
Rebel Specialist only had female options for example.

But honestly with loot boxes involved i'd kinda want something more "special" like
    "Rare Rebel Assault skin"
    "Legendary Rebel Specialist skin"

    "Uncommon X-Wing skin"

Wonder how easy it'll be to earn skill points for heros. Those already geared out in purples will definitely have an easier time of things still.

Well I spent a bunch of credits on crates and have 1520 crafting points now, with ~15k credits left. I'll probably leave them for some cosmetics, even though we don't know how much those will cost, so who knows if that'll be a decent amount.

The only way I could even potentially see the new system negatively affecting/"fucking over" those of us that extensive Epic loadouts is if the time/effort required to level up in the new system to earn Skill Points is notably less time/effort than it was to get cards up to Epic in the current system with buying crates for crafting parts. If that makes sense? Also we've known for many months an big overhaul to progression was coming so I don't know anyone has much cause to be upset in that regard.

In my case I went out of my way to get all heroes/vehicles etc up to overall Epic Card level with 3 Rare or higher cards equipped, and that's actually going to make this work out pretty well for me; I'll already be more or less "set up" for the new system, and this will be especially beneficial for the characters/ships I don't use very often in that I won't feel the need to play them to grind them up in levels. So I'm pretty happy with my spending all of my credits/parts on crates up until like 2 weeks ago still.

Overall super happy to see what they've done here, and it's sad to think what a 180 this game's launch and reception would have been if they had launched like this. The only specific question I haven't seen answered is if they're going to do anything to compensate players that already have the milestones that reward Star Cards, since they've said they're going to change the rewards on those to emotes/poses. I'm hundreds of Hero Crates in and I STILL don't have all of the emotes lol. Also I wish they were refunding players the credits they had spent to unlock heroes and hero ships since they're unlocking them for everyone now, but that's not a huge deal unless you were someone who had just recently bought them.

Well, guess I'll be saving the crafting parts if upgrading to epic requires less points/parts.

I got like 50k credits and 4700 parts, so after cashing in all the credits I'll sit on around 5600.

I'll be able to upgrade 70 star cards form green to purple O_o

Why hurry? We won't be able after the patch?

  47. I think the rewards for completing them are changing. If I read it correctly we’ll get loot crates instead of credits/crystals.

They said any challenge that rewards crystals will remain unchanged too.

They are only changing challenges that reward star cards.
