The casting is inspired, but what a stupid boring idea. Of all of the comic book villains to do an origin story for.
Joaquin Phoenix is an amazing and I love Joker so this movie is getting me excited. Now I just hope the movie turns out to be good.
I’m thinking/hoping “origin” story is a catch all term for a solo focused story rather than what made him crazy.
It will be interesting to see how different his Joker will be from Ledger's. Sure he'll try to do something different.
im so confused now. So Leto isn't going to be the joker anymore? Are they rebooting the entire DCU? Does that mean no more Cavill Supes?
Leto is still the Joker in the DCEU They are not rebooting anything Cavill Supes is still happening This Joker movie is NOT in the DCEU. It's a stand alone movie that will be under the rumored 'DC Dark' imprint. This movie is also rumored to be set in the 80's.
The casting is great for the character but I have like zero confidence in DC to not fuck this up in some way.
I don't get the negativity. Everything must be Universe now? A DC standalone is a fucking breath a fresh air at this point. I enjoy the director and i love Phoenix so im in. I don't mind an origin if they do it right. Didn't hurt Nicholson's Joker.
Man this is going to be interested to see how it's going to work, and if the audiences get confused or not.
Well, given Phoenix track record, i betting that he only accepted this because the script was good. He doesn’t need to deal with gargabe
Something akin to his character in the Master with the same subdued rage as in You Were never Really Here would be amazing. I dont think hes gonna be as animated and lively as the jokers we've seen before God I hope Todd Phillips dont fuck this up, casting is so good
I remember the rumor a were Nolan was deciding between Heath and Robin Williams. Having only 1989's Jack Nicholson as reference I thought Williams was an obvious shoe in for the role and remember going "what? The gay cowboy will be the Joker!?" Since then I've learned to give actors, especially the more unknown ones, the benefit of the doubt.
I mean.... goood I guess. Im interested to see his take.... but, wtf is DC doing? Multiple joker actors? Joker origin? wtf.
I feel Phoenix gives us so much as 50% of the effort he put into his Comodus role we're in for a wild ride!
Uhhh I thought the Joker isn't supposed to have a definitive origin story They should just do a series of shorts of Joker telling people different origin stories lol
This was my first thought as well. I mean he's a hollywood actor so he obviously hasn't aged badly at all but I don't think he's an Eternal like Paul Rudd.
