Arbitrator

David Huebner has more than 25 years’ experience as an arbitrator or advocate in international, investment, and complex commercial arbitrations. He has particular expertise in technology and life sciences disputes but has handled matters across a wide range of industry sectors, legal issues, and geographic regions. Currently resident in California, he hears cases internationally and has in the past been based for extended periods in Tokyo, Shanghai, and New York.

His diverse professional background informs his approach to decision-making, process, and efficiency. In addition to practicing law at large firms, he has served as U.S. Ambassador to New Zealand, founding chief representative of a law office in China, chairman of an international law firm, chairman of the California Law Revision Commission, and adviser to a member of Japan’s National Diet.

  • The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators has conferred on Amb. Huebner the title of Chartered Arbitrator (C.Arb), its highest credential.
  • The Silicon Valley Arbitration and Mediation Center has named Amb. Huebner to its “List of the World’s Leading Technology Neutrals.”
  • On 13-16 September 2018, Amb. Huebner will teach the Accelerated Route to the Fellow Qualification, the advanced arbitration course of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, in Washington, DC.
