Currently: Rouse Ball Professor of English Law since 2004; Fellow of Downing College since 2003.  Fellow of the British Academy since 2006.  Appointed Q.C. honoris causa 2008, and awarded the degree of Doctor of Laws honoris causa by the University of Bristol in 2013. Honorary Bencher of Lincoln’s Inn since 2003.  Academic Associate of 39 Essex Chambers, London. 

Previously: Studied at Exeter College, Oxford 1972-76.
