Popular teledrama actress Michelle Dilhara, popularly known as Podipaththara kari from Salsapuna, won the philanthropy category award at Asia Inspiration Award 2018 at the South Asian Youth Summit 2018 at the BMICH. The event was organised by the International Youth Committee (IYC).
Over 450 delegates from over 80 countries, including representatives from SAARC Observer Nations attended the event. The summit seeks to assess conditions affecting the dissemination of information in society within the South Asian region, establish information networks and partnerships among youth movements for the sharing of experiences, as well as facilitate the incorporating and updating of national policies on youth issues.
The summit acts as a platform to increase the areas of cooperation in the field of youth for better ties and economic prosperity among the SAARC nations.
