2018 Girdwood Fungus Fair Schedule of Event

All events will take place at the Girdwood Community Room unless otherwise noted. Display and talks are FREE, and do not require advanced registration but seating is limited for the talks so please arrive early if you require a seat. Saturday, September 8th


9:30am-5 pm Community Room open with Fungus display, t-shirts and books.


10am, 10:30am, 11am, 11:30am Forays ($10) Guided mushroom walks with mycologists. Each group is limited to the first 15 people to register.  Register online in advance through Brown Paper Tickets. Meet at Community Room 15 minutes prior to foray. Foray leaders:  Steve Trudell (10am), Noah Siegel (10:30am), Rick Van de Poll(11am) and Christin Swearingen (11:30am). 12pm-2pm, 2pm-4pm *Demo*  Mushrooms to Dye With ($25) Dye two silk scarves with pigments derived purely from wild harvested mushrooms (many found locally) with Teresa Paquet.  Check in at the Girdwood Community Room 15 minutes prior to session start time. Limited to 8 participants per session, register online at Brown Paper Tickets starting Aug. 15


1-1:50pm *Talk* Noah Siegel "To Live and Dye For: Edible, Poisonous and Dye Mushrooms of Alaska"


2-2:50pm *Talk* Rick Van de Poll "Medicinal Uses of Fungi"


3-4 pm *Talk* Steve Trudell "Is it Edible?"


4-5pm*Kids Foray* ($5) Kids Foray with Gabriel. Kids ages 6-12 . Limited to the first 10 to register online at Brown Paper Tickets. A parent or adult chaperone is required


6-8pm Girdwood Brewing Company Join us at the Girdwood Brewing Company for a casual evening with food carts, local beers, and fun with fungophiles. Tshirts will be available for purchase. No cover charge or advanced ticket purchase required.


Sunday, September 9th


9:30am-3pm Fungus display, shirts, books  at the Girdwood Community Room.


10-11am *Talk* Mushroom Identification 101 Rick Van de Poll

11am-1pm *Workshop* Mushroom Cultivation with Far North Fungi ($25) The owners of Far North Fungi will be offering a make your own oyster mushroom home cultivation kit as well as giving a talk on what they do.   Register online starting Aug. 15th at Brown Paper Tickets.


1-1:40pm *Talk* Kate Mohatt "A review of mushroom identification resources for Alaska"


2-3pm *Talk* Rick Van de Poll "Conserving Mycological Diversity"
