• OECD Says Euro-Zone Crisis Has Led to Some Emigration

    People are leaving countries that are in the front line of the euro-zone fiscal crisis, but so far the rise in emigration has been modest, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development said Wednesday.

    Unemployment rates in Greece, Ireland, Portugal, Spain and Italy have risen sharply as their economies contract or grow only sluggishly and as governments cut spending, and there is "tentative" evidence that people have started to leave them, according to the OECD's annual report on migration trends.
