2014 Oscar Predictions: Best Foreign Language Film

Indiewire will provide regular updates of our predictions for the
86th Academy Awards through March 2nd, when the winners are
announced.

There were quite a few films that didn’t even make it to finalist round of this category, including Saudi Arabia’s “Wadjda,” Chile’s “Gloria,” Iran’s “The Past,” Australia’s “The Rocket,” Canada’s “Gabrielle,” Singapore’s “Ilo Ilo” and Romania’s “Child’s Pose.” And while that certainly made for a few disappointments, the final lineup is still a strong batch of contenders, with Denmark’s “The Hunt,” Belgium’s “The Broken Circle Breakdown” and Italy’s “The Great Beauty” probably the trio most in, er, the hunt for Oscar.

Nominees and predictions below. Check out all predictions in all the categories here.

The nominees:
“The Broken Circle Breakdown” Belgium
