For Jackie Shroff, who is playing the antagonist in CV Kumar's Maayavan, it is the uniqueness of a role that makes him say 'yes' to a project. 'I like to take up roles that are unique and those that other actors are hesitant to take up. In Aaranya Kaandam, for example, I had no doubts about playing a man who wasn't virile,' he says.
Interestingly, the actor says he is very comfortable working in Tamil films because he is comfortable with the language. 'I have always been comfortable with Tamil because I have been coming to Chennai for the last 25 years, to shoot for my Hindi films in studios like Gemini and Vijaya Vahini. I can manage with 'vanakkam', 'eppadi irukka', 'sowkiyama', 'appadiya' and so on. I have been observing how people talk here, so I just say the words just like them. The sound is what is important. If you can get that right, you can manage, even when you are performing in a shot,' he says.
