Age limit exception introduced in Moto3™

Age limit exception introduced in Moto3™

Following a meeting of the Grand Prix Commission, it has been confirmed that any title winner of the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3 Championship will be exempt from the age limit for entering the Moto3™ World Championship the following season.

At present, the minimum age limit for the Moto3™ World Championship states that no rider younger than 16 years of age is able to compete. However, should a rider now claim the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3 title, they will be able to take part in the Moto3™ World Championship even if they are yet to reach the age of 16.

An obvious example of a possible beneficiary of this regulation change is Fabio Quartararo, current leader of the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3 category. Should he claim the title, he would be able to compete in the Moto3™ World Championship from the start of next season instead of having to miss races prior to his 16th birthday in April.
