Natalie Portman’s ‘Love And Other Impossible Pursuits’ Now Titled ‘The Other Woman’

Natalie Portman's 'Love And Other Impossible Pursuits' Now Titled 'The Other Woman'

Hits VOD On January 1st, Theaters On February 4th

After opening in a handful of foreign territories including Russia and France, the Natalie Portman-led “Love And Other Impossible Pursuits” will finally get a release on this side of ocean as well as a new name, “The Other Woman.”

The film by Don Roos (”The Opposite Of Sex,” “Happy Endings”) premiered last year at TIFF to largely negative reviews. Starring Natalie Portman, Lisa Kudrow and Lauren Ambrose, the film tells the story of Emilia (Portman) who steals a man from his wife and then must bond with her new stepson. It’s tricky fare to be certain but IFC are wisely planning to piggyback on Portman’s “Black Swan” success.

The film will be available via On Demand starting on January 1st and it will get what we presume will be a very limited theatrical release on February 4th. And we would wager that the name change has been made so it won’t be confused with the Jake Gyllenhaal/Anne Hathaway vehicle “Love And Other Drugs.” Check out the official synopsis below. The radiant Natalie Portman (CLOSER, BLACK SWAN) lights up the screen in this frank, funny, and heart-wrenching adaptation of bestselling author Ayelet Waldman’s novel about life, loss, and family directed by Don Roos (THE OPPOSITE OF SEX, HAPPY ENDINGS).

Emilia (Portman) is a Harvard law school graduate and a newlywed, having just married Jack (Scott Cohen, THE UNDERSTUDY), a high-powered New York lawyer, who was her boss – and married – when she began working at his law firm. Unfortunately, her life takes an unexpected turn when Jack and Emilia lose their newborn daughter. Emilia struggles through her grief to connect with her new stepson William (Charlie Tahan, I AM LEGEND), but is finding it hard to connect with this precocious child. Perhaps the most difficult obstacle of all for Emilia is trying to cope with the constant interferences of her husband’s angry, jealous ex-wife, Carolyn (Lisa Kudrow).
