About Spartanburg Alumni

The Spartanburg Alumni share linage with the Greenville alumni chapter dating back to June 11, 1950 when the works of Brother J.C. Abercrombie, joined by Frank Bennett, Harry C. Gardin, Herman Glover, Thomas E. Hampton, and H.C. Ogelsby. At the September 19, 1965 meeting the chapter name was changed to THE GREENVILLE-SPARTANBURG ALUMNI CHAPTER by the Grand Chapter.

This process was originated during the administration of Brother Thomas E. Hampton, Sr. and became effective under the administration of the designation of the Chapter with the other areas, institution and facets of this Metropolitan Statistical Area.

It was realized thru the guidance of Brothers Anthony Long, Tim Suber, George Wideman and Brian Jones, that the Greenville Spartanburg area had grown too large for one chapter to serve 2 cities and surrounding communities. Through their vision The Spartanburg (SC) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi was chartered September 26, 2003 at the University of South Carolina Spartanburg now called USC-Upstate. The Spartanburg (SC) Alumni Chapter was chartered by Fifteen dynamic Brothers; Brian P. Jones, Michael D. Brown, Esq., Dr. Warren J. Carson, Truman Brightman, Tim Suber, Donald L. Peake, Rev. Dr. George Ashford, Karras Cohen, Corey Cole, Anthony Long, Don Martin, Monson Owens, Jr., Rev. Dr. J. Roland Sullivan (Chapter Invisible), George Wideman (Chapter Invisible), Adrian Williams.
