It will be much faster to enter the venue. If necessary, make sure your bag will fit under your seat, as there are no cloakrooms in GC2018 venues.

Water: Commercially sealed water bottle up to 350ml. Only bring empty re-usable transparent plastic bottles (free water refill points are available in venue)

Plan your journey
Use the GC2018 Journey Planner on the app and make sure you allow plenty of time for travel and entry, and your departure after the event.
Arrive early
Don’t miss a moment of the action. Entry gates will open up to 90 minutes before the beginning of each session.
Keep your ticket with you
Ensure you have the correct ticket for your session. It also entitles you to free public transport* to and from the event.
Getting there and back
GC2018 is the largest sporting event Australia has seen this decade, so make sure you allow plenty of time for travel, queuing at transport hubs and security checks.

Get active
If you’re travelling locally, walking or cycling will be the easiest way to get to the venue. Bike parking is available near Southport Broadwater Parklands.
Take the bus
Games Shuttles will take you to the venue from Helensvale station. Bus routes 704, 713 and 719 will run frequently during the Games and can take you close to the venue. Route GC2018 will also take you close to the venue.
Catch the train
Catch the train to Helensvale station. From there, you can take a Games Shuttle close to the venue.
Ride the G:link
Walk, catch a bus or train to the G:link light rail, then get off at Southport station and walk to the venue.
Park 'n' Ride
Book a space at Parkwood Park ‘n’ Ride for the duration of your session. From here, you can take a Games Shuttle close to the venue. Spaces are limited and you must book a spot.
Accessible transport
Accessible shuttle buses will be available and Park ‘n’ Ride spaces can be booked via the GC2018 Journey Planner.

Keep hydrated
Hydration is important for both athletes and spectators, but make sure you know what bottles you can and can’t bring into the venue.
Stay sun safe

Cheer the athletes on as they take on the swim, bike and run legs of the course.

Southport Broadwater Parklands is spread out over a large area, so wear comfy shoes and explore the vantage points within the venue.

There’s lots to do around Southport Broadwater Parklands. Head to Festival 2018 in Surfers Paradise or Broadbeach or relax by the beautiful Broadwater.
Fast facts
- Women’s Triathlon will be the first medal event contested at GC2018.
- All forms of swimming are allowed in triathlon, but most swimmers will choose freestyle.
- Para triathletes use a recumbent hand-cycle for the cycle leg of the triathlon. It’s designed to be ridden by the athlete lying almost flat on their back.
- The transition between each discipline where athletes change equipment is known as triathlon’s ‘fourth discipline’.
