7 Comments:

  1. Clubs have agreements to play games at certain grounds. Negotiations would be required to change where games play. Likely exceptions will be any games played at irregular grounds who will likely have to find alternate grounds like those scheduled for Tassie.

  2. Seven must be thanking the AFL gods this week after 2 consecutive days as no. 1. Can someone please tell me why the games still have to be played in huge stadiums like the MCG. Couldn’t they save money by playing in smaller grounds seeing as there are no spectators?

    • Why does it matter? I watched both nrl games. One was in a huge stadium and another at a suburban ground. Two great games. No crowd. Same atmosphere.

    • I reckon 7 would be very happy with last nights figures thanks to afl. But with 9 NRL coverage they had two big teams (Broncos and Rabbitohs). They had big membership bases. However a few NRL fans in Southern states including Perth get no post match coverage! I don’t get it why they miss the coverage? It’s happened for the 2nd straight year. Treating viewers with contempt.

      • Channel 9’s coverage of the nrl is awful. The sooner they lose it the better. Channel 7 did an excellent job covering the rugby league World Cup a couple of years ago. The difference was obvious.

    • The AFL is contractually obliged to use the MCG for a certain number of games each round I believe, cant see the MCG Trust letting them out of that obligation
