Young Talents - a special project being launched by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute to meet one of its key mission aims. The main idea of the project is to promote talented young Polish pianists by increasing their participation in the Institute’s artistic events.

The principles behind the Fryderyk Chopin Institute's ‘Young Talents' programme

The main aim of the programme is to extend the Fryderyk Chopin Institute's patronage to talented young pianists selected as part of a wide-ranging scheme to monitor the music scene in Poland, comprising the concert series ‘Young Talents at the Fryderyk Chopin Museum', piano competitions and other events aimed at showcasing young pianists.

The conditions for participation in ‘Young Talents at the Fryderyk Chopin Museum' are as follows:

• a recommendation from a person recognised as an authority in the musical world, representing an institution or organisation statutorily committed to the training or promoting of young artists, such as a teacher, an artist giving a masterclass, a juror or organiser of a national or international piano competition or a publisher,
• an individual application, preceded by a recommendation (see above),
• a prize in a nationwide piano competition or festival.

The ‘Young Talents' concerts are held on Thursdays in the concert hall of the Fryderyk Chopin Museum.

Each pianist must give a programme (approx. 60 min.) that includes a work by Fryderyk Chopin.

The recitals are recorded in audio format, in a standard commensurate with multimedia broadcasting and phonographic publication. Consequently, each participant is obliged to transfer in writing the relevant rights to the Fryderyk Chopin Institute. The pianist will receive an audio copy of his or her performance.

The Institute will cover the travel and accommodation costs of the pianists taking part in the concerts, who will each receive, by way of remuneration, a full edition of the Complete Works of Fryderyk Chopin, edited by Jan Ekier.

1. With the purpose of singling out the most gifted pianists, the Institute Director will appoint a special committee comprising individuals highly regarded in the musical world.
2. Pianists selected on the basis of recital recordings will receive further patronage from the Institute.

IV

As part of its further activities aimed at promoting the most gifted pianists and supporting their artistic development, the Institute offers the following guarantees to selected pianists:

• free participation in masterclasses organised by the Institute,
• a performance in the International Festival ‘Chopin and his Europe', in a special concert promoting talented young Polish artists,
• participation in other artistic events organised by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute, including a new cycle of concerts at the Museum
• recommendations for concerts organised by the Institute's partners,
• as far as possible, advice on artistic development and assistance with the most urgent educational needs, including access to instruments and practice rooms and pedagogic consultation.
