O’Malley Introduces “Lean” Budget Which Spends More Money

True to form, the Baltimore Sun is using every rhetorical trick at it’s disposal to justify the fiscally spendthrift policies of Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley. O’Malley’s operating budget shows a 4% increase over last year’s budget. In a world not run by liberals, spending more money is not the same thing as fiscal restraint. Unfortunately, we know who runs the Free State.

We are continually told that the fiscal problems facing Maryland are somehow former Gov. Bob Ehrlich’s responsibility and that the state faces a “structural deficit”. Yet, somehow Gov. Ehrlich left office with a surplus. I witnessed one of O’Malley’s dog and pony shows leading up to the special session and his own presentation showed that this mysterious “structural deficit” is nothing more than the administration (and the Democrat-controlled legislature) planning on spending more money than they are taking in.

has an excellent reply to the Sun’s piece.
