When Culture Meets Style: Meet Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, The Emir That Slays

The Emir of Kano is the 2nd highest Muslim position of power in Nigeria after the Sultan of Sokoto and Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi holds this office as the 14th Emir of Kano.

From his days as the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi has always been a man of great style and carriage. He was almost always seen with his pin stripe suits and bow ties which became his signature look.

Ever since Emir Sanusi was crowned on June 8, 2014, he stopped stunning in suits and bow ties but took up a different kind of slay which I prefer to call ‘The Royal Slay’. Since his ascending the throne, the young Emir has taken the traditional Emir ensemble up several notches, by erasing the invisible line between tradition, culture and fine style. It is therefore safe to say that Malam Sanusi is currently the most stylish traditional ruler in Nigeria.

Accessorising his traditional ensembles with A+ pieces like Louboutin shoes and designer sun glasses, his style shows the richness of the African culture with bold colours and textures that are a pure fit for royalty.

Here are a few times the Emir was simply dressed to perfection…
