it does not show up in search results anymore.
Hey, I forked the original Personal Blocklist by google and fixed* it and republished it to the chrome store. Here is the link to it.
By fix, I mean made it so that the "Block <domain>" shows up in the search results again and that those domains actually get blocked. I'm not sure about any other features that might not work anymore, since those were the only features I ever used.
ok, you are either a wonderful person or someone that will steal all of our data, I will give it a try...
Hi Buliam!
Thanks a lot for your fork :)
It works wonderfully for the Google Search results, unfortunately it doesn't seem to work for the Google Images results: blocked domains still show up in the results.
ps: I did not notice any flicker on my end either, just GI not being affected by the blocklist.
Thank you for fixing the Personal block list! I just noticed the original one stopped working, and got aggravated enough to search for a solution.
I didn't see a list sharing community, so I went ahead and started one at r/block_junk/ If there's an active subreddit for that already, I'll just keep this one for my own backup/reference.
Thanks again, I'll buy you a beer if you PM me your patreon/paypal/etc. thanks!
Thank you very much for your work. I was struggling to figure out how to use Personal Blocklist, thinking that I was missing something only to figure out that the block option wasn't showing up at all in search results. I switched to yours and now I can block Facebook results from showing up among the Youtube video results on Google's search page. You're awesome!
this user ran a script to overwrite their comments, see https://github.com/x89/Shreddit
Did it stop working? I use it to block Wikipedia. The Icon shows up in the extensions panel but the block domain option in search results don't appear.
The original Personal Blocklist is dead.
Reddit user Buliam made a fork that works well for Google Search (just tried it myself on Chrome, x64, Win7 SP1), but doesn't seem to work for Google Images results.
However if you want something that also works for Google Images (to filter the google-bombing shitty Getty results), you'll need to head over to the Google Hit Hider by Domain script by Jefferson Scher.
It's a script that works with the Violentmonkey extension (it's an open source version of the popular Tampermonkey extension - that is now proprietary and closed-source, so should be avoided).
Update: that script is absolutely fantastic, I highly recommend it! :D
With it I can easily:
block entire domain OR only some of the subdomains
export/import lists at will
truncate the WWW with a single push of a button if I misclicked when adding a new domain (the script lets you choose there)
directly add new domains from the Google Search AND Google Images results: in Google Search it's next to the URL ; while in Google Images you first click on the picture, then next to the normal GI's buttons there's a new GHHbD button (name of the script).
I can choose to Block or Permaban domains: Block will still display the filtered results in a short line (for Google Search), and add a transparency layer (for Google Images) ; Permaban will completely filter out the results (for Google Search) and place a grey rectangle over the thumbnails (for Google Images).
Switch an entry from the Block list to the Permaban list with a single click
Screenshots below:
Google Search results (istock is only Blocked here, clicking on a filtered result line shows the full Google preview and the GHHbD buttons)
Google Images results (all moved to the Block list)
Google Images results (all moved to the Permaban list)
this works very well! Now to find a way to sync it across all devices.

good man! looks like there is even an import feature. I was using Vilentmonkey and some script but these dont sync easy between devices. Thanks!
Doesn't work and the retards still have it up for download in the store.
I wish I could get an answer to this, too. There seems to be surprisingly little on the web about it. It's forced me to go over to FF, where it still works.
