President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Monday introduced Ahmad Zia Siraj as the new acting chief of the Afghan intelligence, National Directorate of Security.

Ghani introduced Mr. Siraj during a ceremony which was organized earlier today.

Mr. Siraj was previously serving as the deputy operational chief of the National Directorate of Security.

Furthermore, Ghani introduced Ajmal Abedi as the new deputy operational chief of the National Directorate of Security.

This comes as the former intelligence chief Masoom Stanikzai resigned from his position on Wednesday.

President Ghani approved the resignation of Mr. Stanikzai following an operation in Jalalabad city in which four brothers lost their lives.
