Breach is reasonably produced, and much of the cast are clearly having a grand old time. Unfortunately, it's also completely forgettable and never quite succeeds in hitting its stride, confused as it is about its own identity.

While Breach isn't scary or remotely original, there are moments when it provides some amusingly cheesy sci-fi action action/horror entertainment. Any film that finds a way to give Willis a flame-thrower is doing at least one thing right.

A minimal budget does not absolve a film from having horrible direction and writing. This Alien: Covenant /The Thing mash up doesn't serve up anything new, it serves it in an utterly cringe-worthy fashion.

It all more or less takes place in a high school basement or something, I think [that's where] they shot this thing after painting the walls gray. Bruce Willis walks through, does that thing he does, and the movie's over.

There's nothing new here, forcing director Suits to dial up obnoxious shaky-cam visuals captured on limited sets and pretend he's making something special with a premise that's been done to death.

Breach isn't nearly as offensively lazy as most of Bruce Willis' recent direct-to-consumer action flicks... even if you'd be hard-pressed to ever call it genuinely good.

Breach owes a huge debt to Ridley Scott's Alien and John Carpenter's The Thing and while it's nowhere near as good as those classics, this genre flick embraces its B-movie roots and makes for the most enjoyable Bruce Willis movie for a long time.
