Sex History: Women’s Sexuality
This podcast special dives into the intricate history of female sexuality throughout history. It starts by debunking the common trope of hunters and gatherers, explaining how essential women were to building prosperous civilizations and the unique sexual autonomy they held during this time. We then move on to discuss sex workers and their tremendous historical importance despite their long-standing battle against societal guidelines and then briefly touch on the advocacy work that is being done today to destigmatize the sex work profession. We finish out our podcast by discussing how the unachievable sexual standards set for women during the Victorian era have influenced modern-day and how this thought process has consistently led to the over-medicalization of the female orgasm throughout the centuries.
