This painting is executed on a single panel which has beveling on the top and bottom edges. The panel is flat, stable, uncradled, and with an ever so slight vertical bow. Generally the painting appears to be in good condition. The only visible retouches are along Christs forehead and brow. These are isolated and do not repair any major damage. A few small scattered spots of older loss and retouching are visible around Christ's eyes, upraised hand and left chest. The picture is underneath a slightly dirty and milky varnish which is less thick around Christ's hand, possibly from an isolated cleaning test.
