Connecting Commonwealth LEaders

About us

What is the CSC Global Alumni?

Since 1956 leaders from across the Commonwealth have been able to learn from each other and deepen their leadership capabilities through Study Conferences organized by a wide range of affiliated CSC bodies.

The first Commonwealth Study Conference was held in Oxford, United Kingdom in 1956 to study the human aspects of industrial issues across Commonwealth countries. The founder of the conference, HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh, described it as "an extraordinary experiment" that provided an opportunity for people from all over the Commonwealth and all walks of life to leave their usual roles and, with a diverse group of people, examine the relationship between industry and the community around it.

The success of the study conferences has always been the incredible mix of participants drawn not only from a range of commonwealth countries but also from multiple sectors of society. This community comes together in interesting settings to connect, learn and think about their leadership journey and their role in building a better society for all.

Over many years’ alumni have sought ways to remain connected and engaged with their study conference groups. Over the last few years a number of alumni events have been arranged that have brought together alumni from multiple programmes. At the end of an event held in London in 2018 a group of alumni came together to sign what became known as the Greenpark Declaration. A commitment to become a formal organizing body for the alumni; aiming to support alumni in running more regular alumni events as well as a biannual global conference. This declaration led to the formation of the CSC Global Alumni board.
