Exclusive - Sonali Naik from Maddam Sir and Mihir Rajda from Baalveer Returns share their excitement of celebrating Gudi Padwa

Gudi Padwa is being celebrated all over Maharashtra with pomp and fanfare. TV celebs also share their excitement about the festivals and share their favourite memories attached to the occasion. Actors Sonali Naik from Maddam Sir and Mihir Rajda from Balveer Returns shared in detail the significance of the festival in their life.

Sonali Naik aka Pushpa from Maddam Sir, shared, "I have grown up watching my nani and mother celebrate Gudi Padwa with great pomp and show. On this day we go shopping and decorate the house. Gudi Padwa is one festival that is really close to my heart. I have some beautiful memories attached to this day, from finding a pretty saree for the Gudi with my mother and fighting with my elder sister on who can clean the brass utensil better for the Gudi. My family's legacy continues as every year I decorate the Gudi along with my daughter as I want to pass on all the family traditions and the significance of this festival. I make Puran Poli on this occasion for my daughter and husband. My in-laws have the tradition of making Puran Poli, but my mother used to make shrikhand which we all used to make from scratch. I used to taste the shrikhand secretly. To all my fans, celebrate this festival with full of love and devotion. Even during such testing times in our world, take this day to spread happiness and spend time with your family at home."

Mihir Rajda aka Jalshankar Pandey from Baalveer Returns also spoke about Gudi Padwa and how he is celebrating during the pandemic, "During my childhood, I wasn't really aware of Gudi Padwa. All I understood was celebrating the new year after Diwali. This was because our family being Gujarati, we always celebrated this. But, once I started being with Marathi friends during my university days (zonal and national days) till the time now, I have been lucky to explore Marathi culture and tradition and I feel I am a Maharashtrian only because my identity is because of the friends and body of work, everything has been mainly in this language. This year, like last year, looks very similar and celebrated at home only. I will wish everyone via messages. And every year, I also follow this festival at home for a long time, making my daughter celebrate and understand we are all one and she loves it too. This year though, my wife isn't at home; she is in Ahmedabad for her shoots, so we will definitely miss her. She is the one who generally takes care of what to wear (our whole family is in the traditional attire) and prepares the Gudi. This year, it's going to be me and my daughter who will manage everything and she is just eight years old. Puran Poli is an all-time favourite and especially during these festivals. Also, you cannot skip these dishes, Aam Panna, Alu Vadi, Varan Bhaat/Masala Bhaat. I would like to wish Happy Gudi Padwa (Gudi Padwyacha Hardik Shubhecha) to all my fans and we will have to celebrate it with more responsibilities. During these unprecedented times, the wishes and celebrations at home should be done with care. Visit your neighbours, families, and friends, digitally. We will sail through this and there will be a time when the Gudi that is a metaphor for victory, will be celebrated like before. Till then, stay safe, take care and take precautions."
