While her latest release Pink is garnering rave reviews for the portrayal of real women’s real lives, actress Tapsee Pannu also shared some personal similar shocking experiences of eve teasing in Delhi.

Pink, a film about three women dealing with misogyny is one of the most powerful thing on women emancipation Bollywood has offered off late. It deals with women in cities and how they deal with exploitation almost everyday. Pannu, last seen in David Dhawan’s Chashme Badoor shared how she was wrongly touched and eve-teased while she lived in Delhi.

She said,”Eve-teasing used to happen almost on a daily basis in Delhi. I used to travel in DTC buses while going to college for the longest time. I got my car when I was 19. So for two years before getting a car, I used to travel in DTC buses. And eve-teasing used to happen almost daily. Not just that, I have been touched inappropriately in DTC buses. Rubbed at wrong places while in a bus. And if we ventured into crowded areas in Delhi during the time of festivals, people used to touch you at inappropriate places. It was very common and has happened to me.”

The actress added how Indian girls tend to get embarrassed and guilt ridden if any such things happens to them as that is the way they’ve been brought up.

”Our upbringing is such that we are told don’t go here, don’t do this, don’t wear so and so clothes, don’t travel to a particular place. It feels as if I am committing a wrong. We are fed such beliefs and thoughts. So when it happened with me, I started running as if it was my mistake. A list of dos and don’ts are only for us women and not men.” Pannu said.

While Delhi girls would agree to it, it’s a shame that the situation hasn’t improved in the National Capital even after so long.
