Chelsea have stepped of their approach to European scouting by signing former Palermo sporting director Luca Cattani, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

Cattani, 47, was a part of the scouting network that brought Juventus star Paulo Dybala to Serie A - signing the Argentine forward at Palermo in 2011.

He becomes the latest in a long list of Italians to join the Premier League leaders, with manager Antonio Conte bringing a number of his personal staff along with him last summer.

The former Juventus manager has no qualms about raiding his old league for players and staff, he signed Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina and has come close to signing the likes of Bonucci from Juventus and Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli.

And now, with Cattani's arrival at Stamford Bridge, you can expect the Blues to look to the Italian top-flight once again this summer as they aim to bolster their squad.

Cattani's role in west-London will be finding young talent and helping them grow in the Premier League, something he did impeccably at Palermo and Serie B side Novara.
