Equality of any kind to any woman has been long due in this unjust world. We can only work together towards it step by step. There is still a long way to go for people who have been wronged since the incarnation of outdated rules who have no logical sense behind it, whatsoever.

But slowly and steadily, our pace is increasing. Recently, the 27-year-old Angela Ponce Camacho, a Spanish model, and a beauty pageant possessor made history on June 29, 2018, by becoming the first transgender woman to ever be crowned Miss Spain.

She will be the face of Spain for the upcoming Miss Universe Competition 2018 in the Philippines and will be the first-ever transgender woman to have done so.

Travelling back to 2012, when the ban on transgender contestants was finally lifted up by the Miss Universe Organization, Ms Ponce says it was her dream since then to “Bring the name and colors of Spain before the Universe”.

Transgenders have always faced a great deal of backlash just because they were born different, moreover precious. Ms Ponce went through hell to come out as a fighter and looking at what she has achieved in the past years makes us wonder in awe. Her one true desire is to serve as a role model for trans children who face difficulty in lieu of patriarchal norms of the society.

Only when we take our suppression as an enemy and make it our goal to put an end to it, will we strive and come out stronger. Ms. Ponce has already drawn attention to the unabashed legal codes that defy humanity, let alone humans and the perpetually increasing rates of trans suicides.
