After offering a rival a fight outside, Peter Lines was fined, but he keeps his snooker board job.

After an ugly incident with Xiao Guodong last year, where a flashpoint arose over the replacement of the white ball, Peter Lines has been punished.

Despite being fined for an ugly incident with Xiao Guodong, WPBSA board member Peter Lines remains controversially in two key positions on the governing body.

An independent panel found the 52-year-old from Leeds guilty of two breaches of conduct rules relating to a Northern Ireland qualifier against Xiao in August.

“Only the members have the power to remove him from those positions.”

“Peter Lines was charged with breaches of the WPBSA Members Rules following his match with Xiao Guodong at the 2021 Northern Ireland Open Qualifiers,” according to a statement from the World Snooker Tour.

“It was claimed that Mr Lines had a beef with Mr Xiao because of incidents during the match.

“Mr Lines confronted Mr Xiao in the Players Lounge at the venue after the match, accusing him of cheating and swearing at him.”
