Palisades Tartan has officially announced that it will bring to Blu-ray Korean director Kim Jee-Woon's A Tale of Two Sisters (2003), starring Kim Kap-su, Yum Jung-ah, and Lim Su-jeong. The release is set to arrive on the U.S. market on October 22.
Something strange is going on when Su-mi and her younger sister, Su-yeon, come home to their father's large but dark and somewhat foreboding house after a stay in the hospital. Their dad is taciturn and burdened, and their stepmother, Eun-joo, greets them with forced enthusiasm and more than a little sense of irritation. But that's nothing compared to what happens when bedtime rolls around. Stylish and shocking, this visually arresting tale of family secrets and uncertain realities is based on a traditional Korean folktale. Guaranteed to have you gasping for breath with each successive scare, you'll be kept guessing until the very end of this unique and brilliant film.
Special Features:
- Complete commentary track with the director, cinematographer and lighting director
- Complete commentary track with the director and stars of the film
- Behind the scenes featurette
- Cast interviews
- Deleted scenes
- Post-production documentaries
- Trailers
- And more...

Been looking forward to a good release of this title on BD. I think the U.K. has one, but the video quality is, apparently, absolute crap. Hopefully this version won't use the same transfer. Or, maybe Korea will do their own release, some day.

I was NOT expecting this, but I hope it's a good transfer. One of my favorite horror films!

Tartan is finally doing a new BD release? Nice. I'll pick this up if the transfer is quality. I really hope they release Tetsuo on BD next.

If it's the same god awful transfer as the UK Tartan release don't bother.

One of my absolute favourite horror movies, but I've resisted buying the UK Blu-ray release. I hope they'll have done a good job this time.

I hope the transfer is decent, so I can upgrade. Even if it is, I'm still keeping my imported collector's edition DVD (complete with a segment of 35mm film from a print).
1080i, though. I won't get my hopes up. I'll wait for reviews.

I think the 1080i listed for the US entry is because the UK one was used as "template" when creating it. If they were going to go with 1080i I'm sure it would have arrived much sooner as the UK one has been out for 3½ years now.
It also sounds quite strange that the first entry in a new collection (the Palisades Tartan Black Collection) would be one that doesn't make you interested on buying the coming entries (even though that has happened before *cough* Sapphire Series *cough*).
Here's hoping for a wonderful looking BR that gets a great review, this movie deserves it!

I'm interested to see what this new collection from Tartan includes. Here's hoping it includes "Trouble Every Day", an outstanding flick that has never received any US home video release.

Love this movie. I really, really hope that it doesn't recycle the crappy master from the UK release.
