Sony Pictures has shifted the release dates for two of its biggest upcoming movies, Jumanji and Spider-Man.
Jumanji, the film based on Chris Van Allsburg’s Caldecott Medal-winning adventure book, has been pushed seven months, from Dec. 25, 2016, to July 28, 2017. Jake Kasdan will direct Columbia Pictures’ remake of Jumanji, the 1995 original that starred Robin Williams. The movie told the story of two kids who let loose a man trapped for decades in a board game.
The reboot currently has the release date to itself.
Sony’s next live-action Spider-Man movie, which will star Tom Holland as the young webslinger, will now hit theaters on July 7, 2017, moved up from its previous release date of July 28, 2017. Jon Watts is directing the film.
Spider-Man now lands on the date that was just vacated by Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which will now set sail on May 26, 2017.
Spider-Man currently has its new release date to itself.
