Bette Midler Still Allowed On Twitter After SECOND Call For Violence Against Rand Paul
Bette Midler, who is apparently famous for something in Hollywood, though this reporter knows not what for, and doesn’t believe it to be relevant to this story, is still active on Twitter after a second attack lauding violence against a sitting U.S. senator.
“I DO NOT promote violence but… Rand Paul says the Kurds are being ‘ingrates’ for taking their frustrations out on US troops. Which is a good reminder for us all to be more grateful for the neighbor who beat the shit out of Rand Paul,” Midler said Thursday on Twitter.
The tweet is now deleted, but it is the second time Midler has celebrated violence against Paul, the senator from Kentucky, in less than two years.
“Where’s Rand Paul’s neighbor when we need him?” she asked in a tweet from February of 2018.
That tweet is still live on Twitter, and Midler has not faced trouble from Twitter Support or Twitter Safety for either of her vile tweets supporting bodily harm against Paul.
Paul has been a frequent target of unhinged leftists due to his support for President Donald J. Trump, but Midler’s hatred of Paul spans from long before Trump was elected president. She has attacked him several times on Twitter, as far back as 2013.
Paul suffered a pleural effusion, six broken ribs, and had to have part of his lung removed after his neighbor – a known leftist – bull rushed him in 2017. Paul was doing yard work at the time. The man pleaded guilty to assaulting a member of congress, and Paul was awarded nearly $600,000 in damages after suing the man in civil court.
As Pamela Geller noted, Paul is not the only politician against whom Midler has called for violence.
“Midler faced blowback in June over a deleted tweet in which she fantasized about President Trump being stabbed to death,” Geller reported. “Last year, the Hollywood leftist said she hoped to watch the president’s funeral on television and expressed her desire to see him and his entire family hanged.”
Still, Midler gets to keep her Twitter account, despite clearly violating Twitter’s terms of service. The platform claims that it does not allow incitement of violence or harassment, but seems often to let its preferred class – leftists – slide on such offenses.
One of the first people to be permanently banned from Twitter was Milo Yiannopoulos, the right-wing commentator and former Breitbart editor. His account was nuked from the platform after a disparaging tweet directed at actress Leslie Jones, who appeared in the horrid all-female remake of “Ghostbusters.” Yiannopoulos was banned for inciting harassment against Jones. In other words, Twitter nuked his account because other people saw his tweet, and then subsequently tweeted at Jones about how awful her movie was, despite the fact that Yiannopoulos had no control over what his followers tweeted.
Right-wingers are constantly thrown off the platform on petty, trumped up charges like those in the case of Yiannopoulos. But when leftists celebrities directly incite violence against Republicans, they get to stay.
As usual, the double standard is glaring.
