Adam Levine Plays Freddie Mercury, Gets Hit by Truck on "Saturday Night Live"

Dana Edelson/NBCMaroon 5 was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live this past weekend, but frontman Adam Levine also popped up in a couple of sketches.

Adam first appeared in a sketch that featured host Sarah Silverman as the late Joan Rivers, appearing at a comedy roast in heaven, at a table with various dead celebrities, such as Lucille Ball, Richard Pryor and Steve Jobs.  Adam played Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of Queen, who died of AIDS in 1991.   He didn't have much to do, other than sing a snatch of "Bohemian Rhapsody" and sit there while Sarah, as Joan, busted on him for being gay, but he sure looked the part.

Adam also played himself in a sketch in which Sarah Silverman played a woman being picked up at the airport by her brother following a trip to Amsterdam.  As she tearfully confesses to her brother that while away, she cheated on her boyfriend, the boyfriend himself pops up out of the back of the car with an engagement ring: he'd been planning to propose.  The woman's parents then also pop up -- they were supposed to yell "congratulations" during the proposal.  Then, Adam pops up. "Why is Adam Levine here??" the woman demands. "To sing 'She Will Be Loved' for you!" yells the indignant boyfriend.

"He reached out to me on Twitter and he said you were a great girl," adds Adam. "But honestly, you kinda suck."  Then, he asks if they can all stop at Pizza Hut because, he sings, "There wiiillllill....be stuffed crust."  When they refuse to stop, Adam hops out of the car, which is stuck in traffic, and runs across the road, where he gets hit by a truck and goes flying across the hood of the car.

Adam also performed "Maps" and "Animals" with Maroon 5 during the show.
