  1. QotW: Pokemon Legends Arceus. I’m shocked the faux open world Pokemon game that opened the year did a better job than the actual open world Pokemon game that ended it. Good selection of monsters, interesting changes to the formula and having a proper challenge for the first time outside of cheap last bosses make it one of my favorite experiences last year.

  2. 2022 was quite a year for indie games and one of my favorites of the year was “Rollerdrome” by Roll7. The game combines Tony Hawk style roller-skating with the enemy-juggling combat of Doom and it plays beautifully. The game is designed so falling is not a concern and provides a healthy amount of aim-assist so the player can focus on the action. This has been one of my go-to Steam Deck games and I hope we get more of this expertly blended genre mash-up in the future.

  3. QOTW: Per usual I struggled to play many games that were released this year, but after listening to this episode I took the time to play Tunic, which unseated Rainbow Six: Extraction from the top spot for me. Things might have turned out different if I was able to convince more of my friends to get RS:E, WHICH IS A GREAT TIME. But Tunic really is a great game with serious Fez vibes, like Chris said and I wish I hadn’t waited until right before my vacation was over to start it.
