Sims 3 is the perfect example for a brilliant, fun game that works without any violence.

This game may well manage to suck some of the harder gamers into its clever paws thanks to sharp wit and genuine originality. [July 2009, p.86]
  3. If you never really "got" why people played the games, The Sims 3 might give you the answer you've been seeking.

The living, breathing world of Sunset Valley, the town that comes pre-packaged with the game, is a fascinating one.

    It's really chuffing addictive.
  6. It's both more of a role-playing game than it's ever been before, and more of a design game than it's ever been before. It may suffer a few glaring compromises, but it's an essential play for anyone with an interest in what videogames can achieve outside of a targeting reticule.
  7. It’s only the inclusion of a much slicker set of tools to allow the recording of machinima movies and the sharing of customised content that prevents an even harsher score. While there was a significant step up both technically and in gameplay terms between The Sims and The Sims 2, the same can’t be said of The Sims 3 compared to its predecessor.

The first notable thing has to be the create-a-sim, it's much more customisable and i found myself taking 30 minutes making my sim look exactly like my best friend, beauty spots are available and hair is fully changeable. When you start it is also amazing, i do advise you not to use cheats however, it takes almost all of the fun away from the game. Jobs earn you a lot less money this time, but more realistic, you don't need to reach skilll requirements to progress, a good relationship with the boss can be just as useful. Skills are better too. Charisma is the most challenging, ad you need loads of friends to reach level 10. All in all this game is perfect. GIve it a 10 if you're not gonna use cheats and and 7 if you do. Expand

TheI absolutely love this game, my Sims now feel as if they are apart of one large world rather than in some smll contained environment. The only complaint about this game I have is the facial customisation...... As much as I try. My sims all look fat. I hate it. I want The Sims 2 level of creation, not this wierd making your sims havedifferent body shapes all with a fat face... Expand

The open world is innovative and the only thing that makes people go back to the game. The design creator is also very nice and needed in new entries in the franchise. Meanwhile, everything is broken, the loading times were and still are a nightmare, the NPCs turn into pudding people after a while.

And everything is just coated in EA's paywall system, where most basic stuff is either added in expansion packs or must be bought through a separate shop for SimPoints.
It could've been an amazing life simulator if it wasn't for EA.

The expansion packs actually brought a lot of content compared to the sims 4 today and the open world just makes the sims 3 much more superior to the sims 4. One negative thing that I remember would always happen was that the game would crash and I would lose all my progress. Expand
