King of Lethwei Dave Leduc BANNED from Myanmar and competing in the sport

Published

on

The most famous name in the world of Lethwei, Dave Leduc, has been banned from Myanmar and competing in the sport for two years.

The Myanmar Traditional Lethwei Federation (MTLF) announced sanctions against Leduc for his recent behaviour. Leduc has been on a tirade against the sport of Muay Thai of late. He insulted a legend of Muay Thai, Buakaw Benchamek, even bringing up allegations of missing child support. He accused Thailand of stealing Lethwei from Myanmar and creating Muay Thai from it. In addition, Leduc challenged Buakaw to a fight under modified rules.

Dave Leduc has been banned from Myanmar for challenging Buakaw and incendiary comments about Muay Thai and Thailand.

There was a genuine risk of a diplomatic issue between the countries because of the actions and words of Leduc. Calling a martial artist’s reputation into question is usual in the West, but in the East it is unacceptable.

The MTLF decided Leduc acted outside the ethics of the sport and deserves punishment. The Canadian fighter cannot enter the country of Myanmar, fight in Lethwei competitions or be an ambassador for the sport.

This punishment will undoubtedly hurt Leduc, as a man who loved the country of Myanmar. He has spoken on the Joe Rogan Experience about his acceptance by the people of Myanmar and how much it means to him.

The full statement from the MTLF is below.

Ahmed Mujtaba “Ready With The Answers For Sage Northcutt at ONE Fight Night 10

Published

on

Ahmed Mujtaba has long been a dark horse in ONE Championship, but the Pakistani scrapper will be under the spotlight next month.

“Wolverine will travel to the United States for ONE Fight Night 10: Johnson vs. Moraes III – ONE’s inaugural show in North America at the 1stBank Center in Denver, Colorado, on Saturday, 6 May, to meet returning star “Super Sage Northcutt inside the Circle.

Mujtaba won his last two outings inside the first frame and was last seen on the global stage at ONE 163 last November, where he submitted Brazilian dynamo Abraao Amorim. But with the biggest opportunity of his career looming, the in-form star plans to put Pakistan’s MMA scene on the map.

“I’m representing my country – this time, in the United States, the land of opportunity, the 30-year-old said.

“There’s a lot of people from Pakistan in the U.S. They are waiting for me to represent my country, and there are a lot of Pakistanis who will be at the event, cheering for me. To the Pakistan fans, I just want to say support me on the 5th May. Say your prayers for me. I just want to say that everything is possible. Nothing is impossible.

Northcutt hasn’t been seen in ONE Championship since the devastating loss he suffered in his promotional debut loss almost four years ago.

Many believe that defeat, coupled with a return in front of a native crowd, will be everything the California kid needs to come out on top on.

Mujtaba sees things differently. While Northcutt has been sidelined, he has has solidified himself as a dangerous names in the lightweight division by massing a reputable 4-2 slate.

The American Kickboxing Academy representative has improved leaps and bounds in his last two successive outings, and he feels his activity in the Circle will give him significant advantages at ONE Fight Night 10.

“Sage is a nice guy. Of course, he will be hungry for his comeback. He’ll be well prepared. But I’ve been in this game a long time, and I don’t fall too easily. I’m ready for this, Mujtaba asserted.

“As far as I’m concerned with Sage, I don’t care whatever his attacks, whatever his plans would be – I’m ready with the answers.
