Dear Colleagues,
I will never forget my first day at IU Bloomington as a doctoral student in 1997. Upon my arrival, I was immediately struck by the beauty of the campus, the intellectual and cultural opportunities that awaited me at every turn, and the welcoming community that supported and inspired my success.
IU Bloomington’s vital research and teaching missions make the world better for people everywhere. I am truly honored to return to a campus I know and love and excited to continue this important legacy alongside all the individuals who make this campus thrive.
During what I know is a time of leadership transition at IU, I also look forward to absorbing all I can each day about the people whose dedicated vision and challenging work make this campus such a successful, vibrant, and welcoming place.
So, while I earned a doctorate in speech and hearing sciences here more than 20 years ago, my mission now is to “earn a doctorate” in Indiana University Bloomington. As your Provost and Executive Vice President, I will learn from you about our schools and programs, areas of study and degrees, student success initiatives, research and innovation, global and domestic partnerships, arts and culture, student life and wellness, campus operations, and, finally, what it truly means to embody the Hoosier spirit.
I look forward, with great anticipation, to working with you to deepen IU Bloomington's commitment to our students and to advance our reputation as an innovative leader in higher education.
