It's been almost a year to the day that Meghan Markle announced to the public on a visit to Cardiff that her husband Prince Harry was a feminist.

Whilst stopping to speak to well wishers, one royal fan told the 37-year-old actress how wonderful it is to have a feminist in the royal family. 'Thank you,' Markle replied, before adding: 'He's [Harry] a feminist too.'

Now, it seems Prince Harry has fully embraced the title, proclaiming on a visit to Birkenhead earlier this week, that he is indeed a feminist.

The parents-to-be were on their first royal engagement of 2019, speaking to a group of women from the charity Tomorrow's Women. The organisation supports women in vulnerable circumstances and has 6,500 registered users who take part in training, workshops and support groups around mental health, domestic abuse and addiction.

The Duke initiated a surprise group hug with the group and the Duchess after hearing the stories of women helped through difficult times by the organisation.

'Harry initiated a group hug – there were about 15 women – it was a scrum. He said "come on, group hug". You don't expect that', said CEO Angela Murphy.

Speaking on the royal visit, Murphy revealed:

'They were so good with the women, they were interested in them. They engaged, they initiated conversations with the women and they were just so warm. The conversation flowed so easily, there was never silence, in fact it was very difficult to get them to move from one venue to the next.'

The best bit?'Harry said, "I'm a feminist". Yes, Harry!

Although we always had faith that the expectant father was a feminist, and his own wife had confirmed it, we always welcome any member of the royal family, especially a male one, speaking out loud and proud for women everywhere.

Murphy continued, disclosing that, 'Harry said it's really important that men are involved. It's true, you've got to be working together. There's no divide between men and women with regard to these issues.'

Best. Prince. Ever.
