France: Apple Tour on the Road

Apple France's marketing department is always eager to show the power of the Mac, so through March 17, the French subsidiary of our favorite computer company is holding Apple Tour 2000.
"This show is always divided in two parts," says Lionel Guicherd-Callin, rédacteur en chef of the mac-arthur.com Web site. "First, the crowd has got an overview of Apple financial results, then new products are show like the brand new PowerBooks, the AirPort technology, iMovie, Sherlock II, and the upcoming French version of IBM ViaVoice."
At one stop on the Apple Tour, an Apple Frances employee said that the company lead by Steve Jobs is now holding 5 percent of the world computer science market. Also, regarding Sherlock, Apple France is making tremendous strides to improve the number of French Sherlock plug-ins, says Guicherd-Callin. With the help of SVM Mac, Apple France is sponsoring a contest designed to see Sherlock plug-ins created that are dedicated to many French Web sites like iBazar (a Web auction site), bol.fr (an online bookstore), and les pages jaunes et blanches, the national telephone directory published by France Telecom.
"These plug-ins will give a substantial publicity to Apple's Sherlock technology, which remains quite unknown in our country," Guicherd-Callin says. "
The first part of the Apple Tour 2000 ended with an overview of Mac OS X. However, the crowd was a little bit disappointed as there were only pictures of Mac OS X and no real demo, notes Guicherd-Callin.
The second part of the Apple Tour 2000 is dedicated to seminars, he adds. There are four seminars: Creative, Education, Business and Health.
