Playing a Game Basics

To start a game: Back to top


  1. Select Game Icon(Game) from the home menu.
  2. Insert a Memory Stick Duo™ into the PSP® (PlayStation® Portable) system so that you can save game data.
  3. Insert a UMD™ (Universal Media Disc) game disc. The UMD™ game icon will appear.
  4. Select the game icon and press X Button.
  5. The game will begin.

Note: If there is already a game in the PSP® (PlayStation® Portable) when you turn it on, the game will start automatically.

To quit a game: Back to top


  1. Press the home button while playing a game.
  2. The message "Do you want to quit the game?" will appear.
  3. Select Yes and press X Button.
  4. The game will end and the home menu will appear.

Note:If you need to stop playing the game for a short time, instead of quitting the game, pause it with Sleep Mode, see Using Sleep and Hold Modes.

Note: If Parental Control Icon(Parental Control) is displayed with a game, access is restricted by the Parental Control Level feature. To access the game, enter the password using the directional buttons.
