They are approaching their first anniversary as husband and wife.

So it's not surprising that Ben Ainslie and Georgie Thompson put on a loved-up display when they attended the lavish Team GB Olympic Ball on Wednesday.

Held at London's Royal Opera House, the pair - both 38 - looked the epitome of a happy couple as they celebrated sport's biggest success stories.

Wearing a blue dress with a subtle train, the blonde TV presenter certainly had a spring in her step as she joined the annual bash. 

Flaunting her shoulders and arms in the sleeveless number, the popular media personality had scraped her hair back into a classy ponytail to offer added height. 

She off-set the navy blue look with a garish pair of orange stilettos, which were mercifully obscured.

Also scrubbing up well was her sailor partner, who was effortlessly dapper in a formal tuxedo.

The sporty couple first set tongues wagging about the nature of their relationship when they were spotted kissing while on a trip to New York in October 2013.

Georgie, who previously dated Declan Donnelly for over two years, later revealed the couple had been in a quiet relationship since April - but they had known each other for three years before their friendship blossomed into love. 

She said in an interview with the Mail: 'We met through friends at an event and I don’t really know how to describe it. It was a bit of a thunderbolt moment but a thunderbolt that took years before it became anything real.

'We were in different places, but then in April the stars aligned and it made sense to be together and we haven’t looked back since. It’s very special… he makes me very happy.'

Also out in force was Victoria Pendleton, who was also on glamour mode.

The former Olympic cyclist looked impeccable in a standout black gown, that wouldn't have looked out of place on the red carpet at the Oscars.

While her body was pretty much completely covered in the swathes of black fabric, Victoria gave more than a subtle glimpse of her incredible figure, fit and honed from her years of athletic activities.

The curve-clinging dress was cut high on the neck and long on the skirt, falling behind her in a long floor-sweeping train.

Complete with long-sleeves, the dress included a racy side panel of curved sheer lines over her chest and side, to inject a touch of difference to the frock.

Beth Tweddle also made an appearance at the event, alongside acclaimed Sharon Davies.
