Not flash mob but FASHION mob as New York's Fashion's Night Out revelers trash Audi while helpless driver watches from inside

These photographs capture the shocking moment a driver became a fashion victim of an unusual kind, when group of thugs targeted him and clambered over his car as he tried to navigate a New York street.

Shot by freelance photographer Jika Gonzalez the images show young revelers egging each other on as they jump onto the bonnet and trunk of Mitchell Levine's white Audi.

Allegedly the work of Fashion's Night Out party goers, scores of young people joined the mob in mocking Levine and jumping around on his car after an altercation with a cyclist turned ugly.

They whooped and yelled as loud music blasted out around the street but things got out of hand when they began smashing the windshield, Gonzalez told Gothamist.

Some shouted things from the sidelines while others got stuck in, taking it in turns to climb onto their 'stage' and perform signature moves.

Gleeful fashionistas body popped and raved as Levine sat trapped within the vehicle.

One video, shot by an onlooker, opens with a young woman wearing hot-pants and a loose cream blouse writhing around on the bonnet as others gawp up at her.

She is replaced by another, less stable woman. She performs an erotic display, grinding up against the car, at times remaining upright only through the help of her friends.

Levine beeps his horn repeatedly as he tries without success to break up the ruckus enough to drive his car through the crowd.

But his efforts only further rile the ever growing mob, as it closes in around his car.

On Twitter Fashion's Night Out revelers have claimed responsibility, one writing: 'N***** started dancing in the street and on top of this dude's car Wildin for respect. #FNO was live. nobody gave a f***.'

Witnesses report otherwise, however. One told Gothamist that it may have been a tiff with a fellow road user that brought about the riot.

In the midst of the chaos stands a cyclist, using his bike to block Levine's path.

According to one witness it was an argument between the two which sparked the whole incident.

The rider, a man wearing a tight pink top and red-framed glasses, aggressively leans in toward the driver's seat and shouts: 'This is not Virginia, this is not Alabama mother f*****', while those around him join in with rude hand gestures.

As the rioting continues people clamor among themselves for a better view, but the approach of flashing lights and sirens soon scares them off and they disperse, leaving Levine to assess the damage to his car.

Frustration: Levine looks like he's getting angry with a female police officer, possibly because of how long it took for help to arrive

He can be seen standing beside the vehicle, inspecting it, taking in the shattered windscreen. At one point he walks over to the mob, his arms outstretched as if demanding to know why they did it.

Turning to a female police officer his frustration is clearly visible, perhaps because of how long it took for help to arrive.

According to Gonzalez he was trapped inside the vehicle for over 20 minutes without police assistance.

An NYPD spokesperson had no information about the incident and it is not known whether any arrests were made.
