About The Scholar Ship

The Scholar Ship is a recognized academic program aboard a transformed passenger ship hosting students on semester-long voyages around the world. Participants from diverse cultural backgrounds come together to co-create a transnational learning community that develops their intercultural competence and fosters lifelong friendships.

The Scholar Ship program is built on the integration of four key elements:

1.    an onboard classroom learning environment;
2.    a multicultural residential and social community;
3.    an experiential-oriented port program; and
4.    a strategic research initiative.

The Scholar Ship embarks on a semester-long journey around the world twice a year, commencing each January and September. Itineraries vary from voyage to voyage, but all are planned to provide engaging learning experiences through a port program that complements the curriculum onboard.
