Dry Hair Care at Home


Instead of going to beauty parlors you can also take care of them at your home. Dry hair care at home is not a very tough and complicated affair but can be done without giving much affords. If you are a working person then you have to do certain things on a regular basis.

Shampooing your hair thrice in a week is a must for you and before the day of shampooing you have to massage your hair and scalp with any herbal oil and leave it for whole night. After washing your hair you have to put a good conditioner on your hair. Remember always use conditioners which are specially made for dry hair. You can also use vinegar or lemon, mixed with water. Apart from this regular care you can use some homemade hair packs. Some of the packs are given below:

Banana pack for Dry Hair


Main ingredients: curd (one cup), two bananas (ripe)

Method: Pulverize two ripe bananas and mix it with one cup curd and make a smooth and thick paste. With the use of a brush, apply it all over the scalp and hair and leave the paste for half an hour. Now wash the scalp with an herbal shampoo. Do it at least three days in a week. You will surely get a healthy and shiny hair within a month.

Egg Pack for Dry Hair


Ingredients: Egg (One), Milk (One cup), Lemon juice (one table spoon) Coconut oil (One tablespoon)

Method: Make a very smooth paste of egg, milk, lemon juice and coconut oil. Add a teaspoon of the coconut oil or olive oil to this paste. Apply the pack all over the scalp and leave it for at least twenty to thirty minutes. Wash with an herbal shampoo. Do it at least once a week to get a better result.

Care for Dry Hair

  • Massage your hair with olive or almond oil to get rid of dry hair problems.
  • Massage your hair with a combination of gram flour and coconut milk.
  • Protect your hair from the Ultra Violet rays of the sun. Wear a hat when you go out in the sun or use a conditioner that contains sunscreen.
  • Do not blow dry your hair or use curling irons on a frequent basis. These tend to dry out the already brittle hair.
  • Prepare a conditioner by mixing cider vinegar, castor oil, glycerin and a small amount of mild herbal shampoo.
  • Treat your hair to a hot oil massage comprising of coconut and lavender oil. Leave on overnight.
  • Do not use hair sprays to style your hair. You can use cream conditioners instead.
  • Mix coconut and castor oil in equal quantities and apply to your hair. Follow up with turban therapy.
  • It is good to desist from too much of hair perming and coloring of your hair. These tend to strip the hair and scalp off its normal moisture balance.
  • Consume a diet that is rich in mineral zincs and fatty acids. Zinc deficiency is one of the main causes of dry hair.
  • Use shampoos and conditioners that are rich in humectants and are suitable for dry hair.
  • Drink lots of water to keep dryness at bay.
