Seneca Environmental Services Receives Clinton USTfields Contract

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Commission approved a two year, $100,000 contract with Seneca Environmental Services, 17851 244th Avenue, Bettendorf, Iowa to provide the technical services to achieve the objectives of the Iowa USTfields Project - City of Clinton. It is anticipated that the contract will begin on September 22, 2003 and end September 22, 2005. Additional one-year contract extensions are possible for completion of Tier 1 and Tier 2 reports and corrective action activities.

The purpose of this contract is to provide the services necessary to complete the objectives of the Iowa USTfields Project - City of Clinton. All activities will be conducted on sites located in the Liberty Square Redevelopment Area within the City of Clinton.  Services that will be provided are to identify potential underground storage tank sites, conduct permanent tank/piping closure, prepare Tier 1 and Tier 2 reports, conduct corrective action activities and prepare a final report of project activities.  This contract will be funded by a grant from the US EPA and administered through a Cooperative Agreement between the EPA and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) is the issuing agency of the contract.  IDNR will work in partnership with the City of Clinton, EPA, the Iowa Underground Storage Tank Financial Responsibility Program and Seneca Environmental Services to assess and clean up the contamination at sites within the project area.  Work performed will be regulated under the Iowa Administrative Code, Section 567, Chapter 135, Technical Standards and Corrective Action Requirements for Owners and Operators of Underground Storage Tanks.
